Robert J. Glushko Prize in Cognitive Science - Apply by May 17, 2024!
The Robert J. Glushko Prize recognizes undergraduate excellence in Cognitive Science. Prizes will be awarded each year to senior undergraduate Cognitive Science majors who are engaged with the Cognitive Science community at U.C. Davis University and have achieved excellence in one or more of the following ways:
- outstanding achievement in coursework across the Cognitive Science curriculum;
- independent, original research that contributes to cognitive science, culminating in a paper and/or an oral research presentation*;
- sustained engagement with and contribution to faculty-directed research, as a research assistant, culminating in a paper and/or an oral research presentation*.
(Note: *qualifying oral presentations may be given in a class, research group, lab or conference setting
Eligibility: All senior U.C. Davis students majoring in Cognitive Science are eligible.
Application: All eligible students are encouraged to submit an application via email to the Chair of the Undergraduate Program in Cognitive Science (zdrayson@ucdavis.edu) Applications will be reviewed by the Glushko Prize Committee.
To apply, students must submit:
- A personal statement (one page, double-spaced) that highlights the student’s achievements demonstrating excellence in Cognitive Science. Students who are highlighting involvement in faculty-directed research must name the faculty mentor and time period of their research assistantship.
- One letter of recommendation from a U.C. Davis faculty member affiliated with the Cognitive Science Program: https://cogsci.ucdavis.edu/people/faculty
Application deadline: Friday May 17, 2024
Award: At the discretion of the Cognitive Science Program Committee up to three prizes may be awarded yearly. The recipients of the Glushko Prize will be announced in the spring quarter, and will be invited to present at the Cognitive Science Senior Program Awards ceremony on Thursday May 30, 6-8pm in Putah Creek Lodge. The awardees will be recognized at Cognitive Science Award ceremony and will receive a certificate and a cash prize of $500.
